13 yr. old severly dysplastic mole

by mtpk0620, Aug 15, 2008 09:40AM
My daughters excised severely DN was biopsied and came back as "no residual nevus identified" and "dermal scar".  On the first biopsy it stated that "lateral margins are involved".  (there were actually 2 done at the same time-- one was normal, the other was severely DN)  On the normal nevus the report came back "Focally, the melanocytic cells have a close association with the skin appendages" and "the margins are focally involved".  My question is what these two definitions mean as to the margins - (ex. focally vs. laterally)  thank you for your time!
