17% salicylic acid( compoundW) caused scar, blister, culster of dead skin cells, etc? Can anyone help.

by Pleasehelpme007, May 01, 2009 09:53PM

Hello.

I have some type of strange skin growth on my finger.

I had used a product called compoundW which is basically 17% salicylic acid and I may have had a bad reaction to it because I feel now there is almost like a ball of skin on the area it was used.

I have completely discontinued to use the product but I was wondering what is this mass of tissue which has developed and what solutions are there?

I am not sure if this perhaps scar tissue or just a collection of dead skin cells, etc....

Do you think that it could be freeze off with liquid nitrogen? ( I originally had a small wart on the area that was frozen off with liquid nitrogen ( healed perfectly) however the wart return. So I purchased the Compound W product.

Thanks for your help.

that happened to me too!! i had a wart on my nose and i guess i used too much compound w. it blistered and turned into a scab. it has been over a week and shows no signs of going away. i went to the dr a few days after it happened and he used liquid nitrogen to freeze of the wart that was still there.  he didn't really tell me what to do about the nasty red bump on my nose that won't go away though
