2 Single Warts on Thigh

by 44Ladybug, Apr 20, 2009 10:53PM
Hello
I just have a question about these two random bumps I had on my upper thigh area. I had went to my gynocologist as soon as I noticed them and at first glance he said "It's not an STD" He used somethin to remove it and that was it. To this day (it's been 3 months ago since I went to the doctor) I still worry that it could have been genital warts. Is that possible? There were not other warts anywhere in the genital area, just two single warts on my upper thigh. They had a flat top and were slightly raised, they were pink in color and were kind of hard. Not fleshy or moist, like genital warts is described on the internet. After looking at pictures they look a lot like flat warts or even like molluscum contagiosum. But they weren't in large numbers...only two about an inch apart. What could cause flat warts or molluscum on the upper thigh? I just want some piece of mind that this truly wasn't a genital wart and my doctor was right. I'm tired of worrying about this!

Hello,
From the symptoms that you have described, they sound more like molluscum lesions.Even the diagnosis of flat warts cannot be ruled out. Flat warts are about the size of a pinhead and usually appear on the face, but can also appear on arms, legs, knees, or hands.Warts are contagious when in contact with the skin of an infected person. It is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects used by an infected person.

Similarly molluscum is also a viral infection which can be got after close contact with an infected person.Exactly what these lumps are can be confirmed only after a biopsy of the skin of these lumps.Pls consult a dermatologist and get it done.Treatment will depend on the confirmation of diagnosis.

I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
