2 month old - dry skin on face

by punitha, Jul 02, 2008 12:23AM
My daughter is 2 month old and she has a dry skin on her face especially on cheeks. Can it be cured by using olive oil or some lotion or petroleum jelly ? Is this normal ?

Hi,
Dry skin could be due to the soap you are using. All baby products are not safe to use. Choose only reputed brands when using skin care products for your baby.
An oil massage which includes the face before bath will help in moisturizing the face.
Also baby creama are available which can be applied once or twicw a day to the dry areas.
Children' skin contains a substance that makes it soft and supple, so there is no need to apply oil/vaseline as this may lead to other problems.
If it persists or worsens then you may need to get it checked further.
