2-year-old hypertropic scar-steroid injection work?

I have a raised bump, left by an acne cyst, on the nose that refused to flatten after 2 years. I used to get occasional cysts on my face. Normally what i did is to leave them alone and pop them when they are 'mature'. However, afraid of getting a scar on the nose, i applied some cream on this cyst when it's developing. It stopped dead. The pain subsided and the bump stayed there for more than 2 years now. There isn't any pus or fluid inside the bump. I can feel that it's solid like tissue.  I think most probably it's hypertrophic scar. What can I do about it now? Will a corticosteroid injection work after so many years?
Please offer your advice.
