4 large red bumps on penis

by so very sad, Jun 27, 2003 12:00AM
my g-ma passed away in a nursing home march. we held hands for hours (so did mom and g-pa), weeks later we brokeout itching. g-pa was diagnosed w/scabies but before diag., oral sex was perf. on me, no intercourse. she didnt have any cold sores. after the diagnosis, i took elimite may 2. on may 6 i had another encounter w/diff girl, strictly oral, naked rubbing, no penetration tho my penis did touch her vagina at times(very drunk). next morning had a drs appt. gen. exam was fine, he did touch my penis w/out gloves. next day (2 days after the sexual encounter) awoke to find 4 large red bumps on my penis: 1 on the head, 1 on rim a few centimeters away from it, 1 on the circumsized foreskin even further away, 1 on the underside of penis where scrotum begins. each about 1/4 of an inch large bright red kind of solid, did not look like blisters clustered or clear fluid-filled. did not hurt, itch, burn- nothing.  i was baffled, but got other red bumps in my armpits, tummy, etc. (so did mom)so just figured scabies aftermath. also developed a large red bump near my belly button maybe a day before. the penis issue was 6 days after elimite treatment, but dont recall bumps or itching on groin during scab. outbreak, only butt tho both were stimulated by warm bath water. went to derm. that i originally saw about the scabies (didnt seem to know too much about scabies, itching worse at night, etc) and said "whoa, have you done anything to get these penis bumps?" i said no, i was scared. i brought up herpes and he just grunted not making a yes or no move. i left not feeling comfortable with him or me. few days later i read every internet site on herpes and was convinced that i had it. i went to another derm. who said it looked more like scabies and took a sample of the base/scrotum bump but no evidence was found (also tested bump on web on hand and it was negative). told me not to worry, would know i had herpes because it "hurt like hell" and also it would look totally different. i had scratched 1 bump in sleep, woke up scratching. took the 2nd elimite treatment that night, only afterwards did my skin burn a little. symptoms: 1 day of headache about 5th day of bumps, awoke w/ incredibly sore calves third week for no reason, no flu symptoms. bumps never looked like blisters, never burst, and slowly went down after maybe 3 weeks. would swell up after masturbation/friction. still have faint red marks on penis. went to urologist the other day who couldnt tell me much w/out seeing them, but said not to worry. asked both females about cold sores/herpes. first said she had one cold sore on her mouth 3 years ago, that was it. the other one said she didnt have cold sore problems or herpes i dated her a year ago & never had problems like this. doesnt it seem unlikely that 6 or 7 days after elimite treatment i would get such a reaction from it? could this be herpes only 2 days after event and w/4 large red bumps spaced out? could trauma produce 4 bumps like this? sore calves?

Pimples can be folliculitis, or scabies.  If scabies, you've already treated it, so it doesn't matter.  Herpes causes blisters, not pimples.  The rapid appearance of the pimples suggests folliculitis rather than herpes or scabies or any STD.  Unless they recur, I'd forget about them.

Best.

doctor, i appreciate your prompt reply, but there were a few specific questions that didnt get answers (sorry to insist, but i spent all day cutting that down from 5000 to 3000 words...

i also had peeling skin on the shaft. result of trauma?

can one get foliculitus on the penis head? are there hair follicles there?

and such large bumps so long after scabies treatment?
i know it is friday and after 6 on the east and you probably want to go home... but i am so scared.

Yes, you can get folliculitis on the penis.  And post-scabies nodules can last for weeks and weeks.

Just recently i returned from Aruba. While there I had unprotected sex with a 23yr old female.  A week later i developed 4 small red bumps that seem to have a black dot on the top of the red bumps.  The black dot eventually have turned into tiny blister like bumps.  They are not really painful unless squeezed or somehow irritated.  I do not have burning while I pee, yet two days ago I have recentlt found a tender lump under the skin on each sie of my groin.  I am not sure if they are connected, but I have no idea what these red tiny blister like bumps are.  Please respond soon.

Why would you continue to have unprotected sex?
