6 month rash

Hello,

In late August I noticed a small browinish yellowish bump on my thumb. It opened somehow and a clear liquid came out. From then on the rash spread causing more fluid filled bumps to rise. I made the mistake of irritating it repeatedly; I kept popping new bumps. I first thought it was eczema as I often get it in localized spots but the liquid filled bumps made me believe it was poison ivy instead. Could poison ivy last six months if it is irritated frequently? Does this sound like poison ivy? (the rash did itch a bit but not like i would suspect poison ivy to feel...i've never had it before)

Any insight on this would be wonderful.


p.s. I've stopped bothering it and it has cleared up significantly with the aid of cortizone.  Recently a small outbreak occurred after a period of little activity.
