7yr old son has a mole on sole of foot

My son has a small mole on his left foot at the side of the sole. It is only about 1.5mm in diameter and doesn't have any of the ABCDE irregularities that would normally cause concern. He has a few other moles on his body that look completely normal. If this mole were in any other location then I wouldn't have the slightest concern but because it is on the side / sole of his foot I am a not sure what to think. From previous research in melanoma I have understood that moles on the soles of your feet should be checked out.

Should I be concerned? He is only 7 and has not been exposed to the sun excessively and as far as I know hasn't even been sun burned in his life. What is the likelihood that this could be something nasty?

Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like a normal mole and hence relax because it is less likely a melanoma. Melanoma has an irregular border, is asymmetrical, uneven color and increasing in size. If you notice changes in the mole's/mark’s color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. You also should have it checked if it bleeds, oozes, itches, appear scaly, or become tender or painful.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
