A glans problem

I have a noticeable scar-like problem on the top of my glans. It is a redish color, and contrasts with the normal-looking surface on the underside. The skin is rough on this top side and is somewhat raised. It is quite grotesque because it looks like it has been mutilated, and I was wondering if there is any kind of topical treatment that can help make this embarrassment disappear? Also, it is occasionally sensitive. I do play sports, and I haven't ruled out it could be an irritation of some kind.
Unfortunately, I think I know what caused the problem. When I was 13, I masturbated by holding my penis against a jet in a hot tub. I think my glans was damaged by doing so. Being ignorant of my body somewhat at that time, I can't be 100 percent sure if that is what caused it. I am not sexually active. I have seen a doctor, but he thought it was normal even though it looked like he was stumped, so I don't believe he knew what was wrong. I didn't tell him of my incident in case it didn't matter. Do you have any advice for me? I'll never be able to share this with my parents, I am 18, and it is so embarrassing and worrisome for me I don't think I can visit a doctor again or even get married. I've tried what was supposed to be a scar removing cream, but it didn't work. I've heard of a method using sheeting or something that takes away scar visibility. Will this or any method work?

For your own good, Alex, you need to show your problem to a knowledgeable physician. It is quite possible that you are describing a variant of normal, which you are interpreting as "grotesque." Or, this may be a form of irritation easily dealt with.
In any case, please overcome your discretion and see a dermatologist, who can certainly set you straight one way or another. Share your concern about trauma at age 13, even though that is most unlikely to be relevant.
Whether you treat this, or just come to terms with it, you will be better off.
