A lil bump under the eye

So i've had this little bump underneath my eye for about two wks now. I thought it was just a breakout. But it's not going away. It started out with alil redness and a lil swelling. But now its not as red or swollen. Its right where your sinus cavity falls..or where dark rings around the eye. Not sure what this is, havn't been to the doctor yet, alittle scared to be honest, so i thought i might try this site out and receive some help, with what this could possible be and what i could do. Thank you soo much for your help!!

HI,

Yes, this is pretty common. It is even found in babies but they resolve after two to three weeks. In your case, it is harmless and do not produce other signs or symptoms. It can be removed by your dermatologist in an outpatient procedure in just a short time. However, you should first see your dermatologist for proper evaluation of these lesions since there are limitations to internet as a diagnostic tool. Take care and regards.

Hi Amanda,

This could be milia, which is a benign, keratin-filled cysts that can appear just under the epidermis around the nose and eyes. Milia can sometimes be a result of sensitive skin and use of harsh face washes or from repeated heat stresses such from hot shower. It is difficult to remove this without proper tools and may leave scars if manipulated.  If topical medications do not help, removal by a special tool or microdermabrasion may be done by your dermatologist. Discuss these options with your dermatologist on your next follow-up.

Take care and keep us posted.
