Abnormal Sweating

by Jasmine, Jun 13, 2001 12:00AM
For the last 7 years (i am 22 now)i have been sweating more than usual, especially under my armpits. it gets to the point where I need to change shirts many times a day to avoid the embaressment.I have tried different types of deoderant, but none have worked. i have heard about a shot that i can get every 6 months. What is wrong and do these shots help? (Botox?)

The best treatment I know of is Drysol, a prescription antiperspirant.  Apply it nightly for 10 days, then about once a week thereafter.  Under the arms, it does an excellent job.

Botox is painful, expensive (perhaps $1,000 per session), and around here insurance won't cover it.

Best.

Are their any abnormal medical conditions that also cause unusual sweating? (like diabetes, glucoma, etc.) Over the last few months, I have started sweating alot and can not make it through the day now without at least a couple of showers.

I don't have diabetes or glocoma (as far as I know) but these do run in my family.  Also, is it possible that diet can some how impact the amount of seating? I used to drink alot of Diet Coke, but have stopped completely thinking that was the problem, but now I seem to sweat now even more...
