Accutane

I just completed my 20 week treatment round of accutane and by the 16th week or so everything cleared up just fine.  I have now been off for about a week and am worried that the treatment will "stick" for the long term.  Just today I noticed a large pimple on my upper back back and am now even more concerned.  In your opinion does this mean that the treatment probably won't work for me, and would the effects of the drug normally wear off so fast.  All of side effects have lessened but my skin feels dry, although not uncomfortably so.

Thanks

No, it doesn't mean that at all.   Patients often break out a bit after stopping this drug.  It's hard after years of having severe acne to get used to the idea of not breaking out anymore.  But believe me, you're likely to enjoy getting used to it!

Take care.

Provide information on Accutane. Isotretinoin (the generic name for accutane) is used to treat the most severe and disfiguring cases of nodular acne. Most Doctors would only recommend this treatment only after all other forms of acne medication have been tried and proved unsuccessful.
