I have been using the latter just since 2 days .I have tried a lot of things and also hve tried consulting certain dermatologists. But they have not been able to offer any solution. I am 5.2 in height and  68 Kgs. I have sarted working out since 2 months and also have the habit of drinking 2-3 Ltrs water a day.My skin is not all clear and this gets very emabarassing.

Hi,
This seems to be a condition called Keratosis pilaris. It is manifested by the appearance of rough bumps on the skin.  It most often appears on the back and outer sides of the upper arms (though the lower arms can also be affected), and can also occur on the thighs and tops of legs, flanks, buttocks.

It occurs as excess keratin, a natural protein in the skin, accumulates within the hair follicles forming hard plugs.  It appears as a proliferation of tiny hard bumps that are seldom sore or itchy.

It’s during the colder months when moisture levels in the air are lower that the problem can become exacerbated, it bearing only cosmetic consequences and does not reflect any skin disease.

The process of exfoliation, intensive moisturizing creams, lac-hydrin, topical retinoids such as Retin A and medicated lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin.
There is currently no known cure for this condition so you will have to keep using the creams/lotions to make it appear more bearable.
