Aging Nose

I had a biopsy taken off my nose by a dermatologist last year which was benign, but the squishy growth on the left side of the nose still there after the divot healed, looks like a Cheerio now.  I'm afraid of becoming BDD.  The plastic surgeon says it can only be removed via rhino surgery.  It is a soft area under the skin not a scaly patch on top of the skin.  After years of burns and peeling, I always worry about basal cell carcinoma and there is a family history.  I want it gone, but I don't need to spend 6K for a new nose do I ?, which by the way is considered cosmetic surgery, so no insurance coverage. Thinking of a second opinion.  Good idea?

Hi,

It is good that the biopsy is benign. If you really are bothered by this because of the family history of cancer, removal of the growth is a good decision. However,  to remove the growth  will leave a scar. And depending on how big it is and the depth they will perform this, it would affect the symmetry and look of the whole nose. Therefore,  a rhinoplasty is a good option.

Take care and regards.
