Already 2 years

I am a 28 year old, I think, healthy male. About 2 years ago I had unprotected oral and protected sex with a girl.  within a couple of days of intercourse I had 2 red marks on the head of my penis, which went away almost right away with a cream from my dermatologist - probably an irritation/chaffing from the condom. But I also had a burning sensation in my bum, backs of my thighs, lower back, and penis; a general burning, throbbing discomfort in the whole region. It's been 2 years now, and though the sensation has mostly gone away on the lower back and penis, it persists on the backs of my thighs and bum (on the cheeks) - generally, whenever I sit down the sensation is prevalent (whatever is touching another surface), and it basically disrupts my life. It's been 2 years and I can't shake it. I've been with no one else, and I'm very hesitant because, if I caught something from someone else while protected, well, could I not then pass it on (unless it was passed orally). Anyway, in the last month, suddenly, I also have a 1cm rash (just a little bit scaly) on the shaft of penis - I've tried cortisone and cortate but it won't go away. There's no blisters, or bumps, but it is very red. I've been tested for everything, and everything checks out. My doctor tells me that the uncomfortable sensation is all in my head. Please advise, cause I can't deal with this anymore - ie: not knowing for sure. I've read all the posts, and no one talks about anything like this. Is there something you could suggest to make this sensation go away?  Do you think that the rash might be something(is there any std that would only show visible symptoms after so long)?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Two years and waiting

I agree with your doctor.  There are no dieseases I know of, sexual or otherwise, which would explain these symptoms.  On the other hand, worrying about that sexual encounter could certainly explain these persistent and distressing symptoms, which are basically making it impossible for you to establish a relationship with anyone else.

As to the rash on the shaft of the penis, it sounds like irritation, not an STD.  Have a doctor take a look and prescribe.

Now that you have done what you needed in order to rule out organic disease, you should look into psychological help.  Two years is too long to agonize.

Good luck.
