Angular Cheilitis CURE?

I've read almost all of the forum posts that relate to angular cheilitis and have been quite disappointed with the Dr. responses. The mostly just leave me feeling hopeless. So here's my situation:

I was told two months ago that the lesions and dryness on the corners of my mouth were caused by angular cheilitis.  The first treatment attempt was with OTC athletes foot cream.  This did nothing to alleviate the infection.  I was then given a prescrition for Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide.  Within a week of using this cream 2x a day all visible signs of infection were gone.  I continued to use the cream for 2-3 days after this.  I enjoyed 3 or 4 days free from infection.  Then, it began again.  Redness and dryness were visible so again I used the cream for a few days and it disappeared.  Now the infection has reappeared for a 3rd time.  Am I doomed to live the rest of my life fighting this thing?

I've racked my brain trying to figure out what could be the root cause of my seemingly high candida load.  I am a smoker, however I smoke less than half a pack a day and at times in past I have smoked far more, at one point approximately 3 years ago I was smoking a pack and a half a day so if smoking was the reason why wouldn't it have surfaced then?  Could it be related to my diet?  I wouldn't say I have a particularly good diet but I don't seem to be suffering from any other conditions that would also be attributed to malnutrition.  Could it be related to alcohol consumption?  I like to have a beer or two after work, sometimes more on the weekends, but the frequency and amount of alcohol consumption is nothing out of the ordinary and in fact is probably less than what I was consuming a year or two ago.  The infection surfaced about 2 months ago, around the same time I switched from a generic birth control (trisprintec-lo) to a brand name (orthotricyclin-lo) however I was switching BACK to the brand name which I had used without complications for 5 years before the generic became available.  Is it related to oral health?  I don't always brush and floss twice a day but again, as is the case with every possible cause I can think of, this is NOT NEW.  I haven't changed my diet, changed my oral hygiene habits, changed the amount I smoke or drink or changed any medications.

WHY did this infection take hold in the first place and is there ANY hope at all that I can someday be rid of it FOR GOOD?

I had this last year and tried to get rid of it with several medications that did not work.  My dermatologist suggested getting  filler injections in the corners of my mouth and that has worked.  I have been 9 months without a reoccurrence.  I was told this might have happened because the folds in the corners of my mouth might have gotten larger due to age.
