Annually recurring red, warm, painful bumps under skin & on legs only

I first remember having these bumps in August of 2004 (jr yr in high school). They were noticeably red, slightly warm to the touch, painful when pressure was applied and, over the course of a few weeks, multiplied in numbers/size. They only appeared on my legs and a few on my buttocks. They ranged from a quarter in size to the size of my palm, and numbered around the teens.

Seemed as though they formed in my fat tissue (?) I went untreated and the bumps disappeared within a couples months. However, for the next 3 years the bumps came back and around the same time of year (Aug-Sept), and once again disappeared. I have located two on my leg beginning to form once again and am growing concerned. I'm unable to find any information even closely relating/resembling these recurring bumps. Please help!! Thank you!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms they can be boils. A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus.

Apply warm compresses on the boil and keep the area clean. Drainage of the boil is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head. Take some over the counter pain reliever, a[ply topical antibiotics like Neosporin and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. If there are recurrent boils, then please get your blood sugar levels estimated.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello, this happens to me as well.  Your symptoms are exactly what I go through occasionally throughout the year.  The answer I found to be similar is Erthema Nodosum.  Hopefully this information helps!
