Armpit Rash

Armpit Rash

Hi, I am a 16 year old female and I just started to develop a strange rash under my left and right armpit.  It is very itchy and it is hard to resist from itching it.  There are red blotches which seem to be dry skin.  A few pimple-looking bumps show up under my armpits as well, and I really want to know what this is.  I have tried 1% Hydrocortisone Cream and Johnston's Baby Moisturizing Cream and none of these have had a full on great effect.  Can anyone help?  This really is bothering me and permitting me from wearing tank tops that I love, and is really embarrassing.

Thank you so much!

omg hey im 17, and I have the exact same thing !
it's really embarrasing huh !
I miss wearing the sleeveless tops & i'm really self concious about it.
I was pregnant most of the time I had it, so I couldn't really treat it properly.
But I used antibacterial soap on both armpits. one for each just not to spread anything. It really helps. but it can make it more itchy, DON'T ITCH. mine started getting better & then I scratched & heaps of those pimple things showed up.
don't experiment with to many products , because it can make it worse.

I use to have it on both , but now only on my left so there must be something that can be done.

I'd say stop shaving for a bit , & stop using deodorant until you find a cure.
I know it sounds like a drag but shaving & deodorant will only make it worse.

also go to the doctor, I heard some anti biotics really help.
It could be a range of different things.

but let me know how you go!

i have the same rash at the minute! but only under my right ampit.. its very itchy and there are red spots/blotches under it, and theyre sort of lumpy. also there are some pimple like spots too, a bit like whiteheads. ive been taking anti-histimine tablets and they seem to stop the itch, but i really recommend sudo-creme. it soothes it really well! ive only used it recently but plan on consulting my doctor if the rash gets any worse!

There are more than one reason this could be happening. And I don't know them all. But I do know some.
1. This could be from your underarm deodorant. Many can do this. And now they are putting propylene glycol in them. And some people react to even mild petrollium like agents like this one.

2. This could be from your shaving cream or gel. Or dry shaving, or a cheap one that doesn't give enough slip to give a smooth comfortable shave.

3. Dull razor.

4. Remember too that even a small rash can get irritated and inflamed, thus getting worse and covering more area. and thus reacting to deodorant when normally it would be fine. And sweat contains salt, which further inflames it.

5. An allergic reaction. "allergic contact dermatitis.
And I would send a link to pics of this but I don't want to mislead you. I only send that link when it is something that points to that only. In this case, it could be many things which cause you to react like this, and also this can look the same as when the rash is caused by something else like the above. But under arms sweat, you put stuff on there, shave, and then as you walk and move your arms, this can turn a small thing into something which looks like ACD but isn't. So I won't. it is pointless in this case. But it still could be that.

6. could be bacteria I suppose being in a moist area.

7. I suppose nerves could come into play.

8. Something I am not mentioning here.

But sending a link to a pic can be more helpful.
