Atypical mole question

Atypical mole question

The atypical mole removed was not cancer or precancer, but they want to cut further in and around "just in case"  I've had other atypical moles removed and never been told to take it further. What do you think is a sensible decision?

Hello,
In case of any atypical mole, it is better to explore the healthy tissue and send the mole for biopsy and histopathological examination so that in case there is any skin malignancy, then it can be removed along with the mole and then the decision for chemotherapy decided. Whwther we need to explore deeply when removing a mole or not can be decided only after examining the mole and during mole excision surgery. It cannot be predicted.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
