Baby with 2 skin tones

by madi2009, Jun 01, 2009 02:19PM
I have a 9 month old baby girl. She is Black American and has 2 very different skin tones. Her trunk and extremities are very dark, almost black. Her face however, is about 5 shades lighter. You can see the contrast when she is sucking her thumb. She has mild eczema on her cheeks and hands only. I wanted to know if the stark contrast in skin color and be an indication of any underlying conditions or rare syndromes. She is otherwise healthy. There is no sign that the skin on her face is becoming darker. It has been this way since 1-2 months after birth.
