Back Toenail

I have a big toenail that has gone black. There is blood under it. I have cut it back, but continues to grow back black. I just put nail polish on it and try to forget about it.. I just want to make sure if I don't treat it, it's okay.

Hi,

If there  was a previous trauma to the nail,  a black or brownish discoloration  is frequently observed. The color results from a blood clot or bleeding under the nail, and may involve the entire nail or just a small portion of it. This can be very painful when the entire nail is involved, and may need medical attention to relieve the pressure caused by bleeding under the toenail. Have this evaluated further for proper management. Direct clinical examination is important. Take care and keep us posted.
