Bactrim

My dog scratched my arm over 2 weeks ago.  I have kept it cleaned and civered with Neosporin. I am 62 anh have had problems the past year with thinning skin and bleed under the skin easily. :-(. Last night I noticed a small,red area above it on my firearm with a small pustule which I broke and cleaned.  Then noticed one on my side under my arm and did the same.  This morning the one on my arm was bigger. Ncalled the doc and he checked it took a sample for a culture.  Prescribed generic Bactriban and generics Bactrim D'S.  I think I took Bactrim or Septra (?) years ago.  I don't do well on meds and ( I should stay off the computer) read about people having horrible side effects and am now afraid to take it.  On the other hand, don't want a worse infection.
Am wondering if anyone has used this drug and had any problems.

Every drug has side effects, but not on all. Do continue as per doctor's advice and report any adverse event,if any.

I am just hesitant because I have had health issues for a long time they can't diagnose.  Some of the meds they have given me make me worse or have had reactions.  I do believe I took a surfer drug before, not sure if it was this one.  Hate to take a first dose of anything at night but I did take the first pill after dinner.  Hope there are no problems.

Almost done with the meds. No problem other than a bit of a queezy stomach a couple of days.  No idea if it helped the infection but no worse.  Don't even have the culture results yet.
