Bakers Nevi

My son has a large hairy brown patch on his lower leg-5inches long by about 2-2 1/2 inches it was biopsied about 9 years ago and I was told it was a Hairy Baker Nevi-My question is do they ever turn cancerous and should it be removed?

Christine:

I think you mean a Becker's nevus, but in any case, that is a benign lesion which usually appears on the back of adolescent males, and has no precancerous potential whatsoever.  If the spot is growing or changing (unlikely), have your son see a dermatologist and show him or her the pathology report.

Best.
