Balanitis, yeast infection or else?

Hello,

I have asked a question about the irritation on my penis before and wanted to clarify a few things. I had the following in the past 5-6 weeks:

- Started out as irritation on penis glans. Sensitive red area with some red dots on it. Within a week the skin peeled off and redness dissapeared
- Then I noticed redish foreskin visible when pulled back. Redish, little scaly and it seems a little more shiny on the light than usual. Sometimes I think that it's a little more sticky than it should be.
- Sometimes I feel that it's more noticeable and sometimes not.
- Went to dermatologist - he said he doesn't see anything and it's clean. That day it wasn't so noticeable. He said it may have been dermatitis.
- Next day, when my penis was erect, I noticed micro tears in the skin all over penis glans - sort of like it's peeling off.
- The skin on the penis glans is not as smooth as it used to be after the erection - sort of like overly wrinkled.

What do you think it may be? Could it be balanitis, yeast infection or else? I started getting upset stomach after I drink beer and I've read that it might be an indication of yeast infection. I also get tinea versicolor - maybe the two are connected?

What do you think? Would you recommend using any cream?

Thank you very much.

Dr. Lacuesta,

When I first posted my question - you replied saying that it's balanitis and recommended to use miconazole cream. I was traveling a lot since that time and didn't have a chance to purchase and use the cream. But given the additional information that I observed in the past weeks - do you still think it's balanitis?

Are there any complications if it's not treated for some time?

I found a cream - Monistat (miconazole nitrate) at a pharmacy used to treat vaginal fungal and yeast infections. Is this the one I should use? They have 2% and 4% - which one should I get?

Thanks for your help!
