corona. I went to the doctor who took a swab and gave me an antifungal/hydrocortisone cream.
I applied this for a week until the doctor phoned to say pseudomonas was present from the swab. I was then put on amoxicillin tablets, metronidazole tablets and metronidazole topical gel for 10 days.
After 10 days there was no cure so I attended the STD clinic. All tests came back negative although the doc then gave me more hydrocortisone cream which I used for 2 weeks. I've also taken a single Fluconazole capsule.
Following this the pain hadn't gone, the corona was (is now) swollen
. I went back and was referred to a urologist who prescribed antifungal cream and ciprofloxicin (10 days - pills) to kill the pseudomonas. 10 days later with the swelling
and soreness still there and the small red mark only slightly less prominent than the initial mark I went back and was told I needed to have a circumcision.
Is this going to cure it or is this going to cause more suffering?
I've been on so many medications in the past 6 weeks I'm at the end of my tether. What else could I try to stop this, I really don't want to have the surgery.
Hello,
Usually antibiotics and steroids are the best treatment for balanitis. But if the symptoms persist or in severe cases, unfortunately circumcision is the best option. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist and discuss it with him.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
