Bald Spot

by fenrus, May 28, 2001 12:00AM
I am a male of 24 years who has a naturally oilly scalp along with mild dandruff (it was once severe).

For over a month I have noticed that one spot near the top of my head is lacking hair growth. This particular scalp area is reddish/brown in colour and is visually distracting as it appears to be a center point for other hair "veins" to grow around thus, causing a funnel-like affect much like what you would see atop a monk's head (or Moe of the Three Stooges).

Can this be treated? If so, what are my options? Is my scalp permanently damaged?

Thank you kindly for your time.

Bald spots are not related to dandruff.  I'm not sure whether what you have is alopecia, a reversibe hair noss, or male-pattern loss, or something else entirely.  For proper diagnosis, you need to show a doctor.  I doubt you will get unpleasant news.

Best.
