Bald Spot

I'm a 17 year old male. I've used hair gel since I was 15. I put it on in the morning and take it off the next morning to put it back on again. I usually don't wear it on the weekends. Now at 17, I notice a bald spot at the front left side of my scalp. Just that one bald spot. I was wondering why it's there and if and how long it will take to grow back.
P.S I use a hair dryer to on my hair if that helps

Hi,

One differential is alopecia areata which usually presents with  round or oval patch of bald spot.  In the majority of patients, if the patch is small, the hair will regrow completely within 1 year without any treatment.  It is not clear what is the cause but genetic factors play a role. Try also to avoid using excessive  hair gels. If it persists, have this evaluated further for proper management.
