With years of research, doctors have identified the amount of tissue required to give the patient a good chance. Your doctor may have similarly identified the amount of tissue to be removed. Suffice to say that this margin you mentioned appears adequate.

For your second question: I think the important question to be asked is that whether all of the cancerous tissue removed in the excision biopsy. Further, you may also ask on plans for cosmetic improvement of the site as well as follow-up and reexamination of the skin at regular intervals.
