Basal cell concern

by Dan1111, Aug 06, 2008 07:06PM
Hi,
I'm 38 and have what certainly looks like a Basal cell nodule growing on my face. I also fit all the criteria of sun exposure, light skinned, etc. I don't have health insurance but have just applied for it. It will probably take a month or 6 weeks to get it. My concern is that if I go to a dermatologist now and it is diagnosed as Basal cell carcinoma, what will my new health insurance provider do? I'm nervous that they will regard the skin condition as an 'existing condition', and that I'll get no copays or anything. Obviously, I should have had insurance, and while I know Basal cell takes a long time to develop, I'm wondering if I would even be taken by a dermatologist for a one-shot visit? (and pay cash)
