Beard Area Infection

Three months ago a period dry skin appeared on my upper neck, since the it spread to several other areas of my beard area.  These areas are growing with time, but are confined to my beard area.

The skin on these areas become flakey, there is no rash, no change in colour, no bumps spots, just flakey skin.  my doctor has given me two different anti-fungal creams but neither have had any effect.

The most common flaky rash in the beard area is seborrjeic dermatitis  (may affect eyebrows, behind ears, and scalp too.)  Although the textbooks say antifungal creams work, I haven't found them useful.  Perhaps your doctor might want to have you try a mild hydrocortisone-containing preparation.  In the US, concentrations up to 1% are available without prescription and would be safe to try.  These will usually clear the problem within days, and can be reused from time to time when the condition recurs, as it tends to do.

Take care.
