!5 yr old daughter cleaned her belly button area with q tip. She has developed infection. Also now has a small and very itchy rash in same area. She does not have any piercings. What could this be.
Presence of rash and discharge is associated with an infection. Are there other symptoms present? Have this evaluated for proper management. A culture may be done with the discharge to check which organism is responsible. Try to avoid manipulating the area to prevent secondary infection. It is important to keep the area clean and dry. Antibiotic medication may also be indicated.
Take care and keep us posted.
