Belly button discharge.

Belly button discharge.

Im 21 and had my belly pierced and took it close to 18 months ago. For the last four months my belly button has been producing a discharge which is clear in colour and has a really foul smell sometimes it will try inside the belly button and turn a white/yellow colour. It has nothing to do with the fact that it was pierced because its completely healed. I thought it may have been water after i showered so i made sure i carefully tried the belly button after each shower, but i continue to get discharge. Ive used peroxide a couple of times but that doesnt seem to help.

Hello,
What you are having is an infection of the belly button and most likely it if fungal in nature. You have to get KOH examination of the discharge from the belly button and get a fungal culture done to confirm the diagnosis. Then topical and oral antifungals may be needed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
