Belly button lump

I have a friend who has a lump in their belly button. I think I recall it being reddish brown, but apparently it does not hurt, does not ooze, or really do much at all, except get irritated if she plays with it but nothing extreme ("Like if a kid keeps pulling your ear lobes all day"). They admit their hygene wasn't always the best, though they don't remember ever being without it.

Is it anything to be concerned with? Could it just be some fungus? Would there be anything one could use to remove it?

My friend's 21. They can't seem to remember a time when they didn't have it, although they admit they don't have the best memory.

No other lumps though.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

I just need to ask you a few questions:

How old is your friend?

For how long has she noted this lump to be present?

Was the lump present at birth?

Are there any other palpable lumps in the body  like in the abdomen , thigh or groin area?

Tell your friend to avoid touching the lump unnecessarily as this may irritate the skin and lead to infections.

Do keep us posted with your answers.
