'Birthmarks' on a child of 12

'Birthmarks' on a child of 12

My twelve year old daughter has had about six "birthmarks/moles" between her fingers, toes, and on her hands since she was around five years old.  They are completely flat and appear to be just a coloration on her skin.  She lived most of her life in TX and I always assumed they were the places that the sun screen missed.  Now that she has hit puberty, these birthmarks seem to be just vanishing.  Two of them have disappeared from her fingers, and one is beginning to fade away on her hand.  Is this something that we should be concerned about?  Or do moles/birthmarks fade away on children?  Thanks for any information.  Mom.

I'm not sure what these were, although their disappearance doesn't set off any warning bells in my head.  Moles and freckles do not necessarily come where the sun shines.  Moles generally do not go away by themselves, so I assume these are some sort of freckle.  I suggest you have a skin doctor look at them before they disappear altogether, but I don't think you need to worry.

Take care.
