piece that runs in between the nostrils. A dry patch of skin formed on the outside and the "blister" is soft and skin colored. One time (one time only), I pulled off the dry patch of skin, to find a small red dot underneath that started to bleed. I proceeded to think that maybe if I pushed and squeezed on the "blister", something else would come out also. Nothing did (except for blood) and the bump did not go away. The blood stopped. There was a red scab-like dot, and within a few days the red dot disappeared and there was another dry skin flap on top. (I kept it well moisturized with face lotion.) I left it there this time.
I have had this "blister" for about a month now. It does NOT hurt when I press on it or move it around. I went to see my family physician today (not my plastic surgeon), and he was not able to identify what it was. He stated that it was not an infection or a cyst, because it did not hurt or cause pain. He stated that because it didn't hurt, he was unsure what to do with it, and decided that he did not feel comfortable cutting it open and/or draining it. He advised me to go see my plastic surgeon. He also stated that he has never seen such a bump in this location in his whole practicing career, and this guy is old. He stated that he did not think it was nose surgery related.
My plastic surgeon told me I would not be fully recovered until 6 months out from the surgery. It has only been 4 months. But I have had this "blister" for a month, and it seems to only be getting bigger. What it feels like, is that the stuff they put in my nose, has leaked down.
At this point ,I agree with your primary physician that you get to see your plastic surgeon again.I suggest that you do this in the earliest time possible.Your surgeon would know best. The fact that you had previous surgical intervention done in the area may increase the likelihood that this may be associated with your surgery. A complete examination and some scans may be done to guide your physician in determining the cause of this bump.
I decided to puncture the abscess with a sterile needle a couple of times. Pus and blood came out several times, and the abscess filled right back up and ballooned again. I stopped when the tissue from within started to poke out of the skin from all the inflammation.
After seeing my plastic surgeon, he suspected that a suture from my nose surgery 4 months ago, got infected. I am to wait 2 more months to see if the 6 month-sutures will dissolve, and I was put on Bactrim DS (and antibiotic for infection). Within 2 days, the medicine made the abscess look like just a scab.
