Blisters or burns on eye lid, temple, behind ear, and palm of left hand!

Hello everyone,
Can anyone help me???  In March of 2006, I began having these blisters appear on my legs, arms, chest area, and in my hair.  I had recently given myself a relaxer and thought that because it was in my hair and I had never experienced anything like it that I had maybe had an allergic reaction to the relaxer.  We had also been hit by hurricane Katrina and the water and air had many contaminates in it, so I wondered if that had something to do with it.  I went to the dermatologist over a period of time, she ran many, many tests from biopsies to cultures and could never give me a definite diagnosis.  At first she thought it may be lupus, but that was ruled out by the test results.  Then she said I had bullous impetigo and gave me an antibiotic and an ointment to apply to the affected area.  Well, over some time, the sore areas began to heal, but left really dark, ugly scars all over my chest area, legs, arms, and face, which has really affected my self esteem.  Presently, the blisters have returned.  They are now in my hair, but are more like flakes or crusty areas on my scalp that hurt when I try to even comb or brush my hair.  I shampoo my hair with T-SAL shampoo by Neutrogena, it helps to dry the areas up for about a week, but they never really go away.  I have one on my right eye lid, it's small, but I know from the past that it will began to spread.  I also have one on the side temple of my face and behind my left ear.  They hurt really bad especially because of the areas they are in.  I have gotten this round, sore area in the palm of my left hand that I have never had before.  This thing is kind of hard like a callous, but is sort of bruised and is really painful.  I have a small blister on the side of my left pointing finger and it hurts as well.  Is there anyone who has even the slightest idea of what this could be???  I am going to schedule an appointment with my dermatologist today so she can give a bunch of medications that I don't really need and probably won't cure this stuff, but at least it will help dry it up and maybe ease some of the pain!!!  Thanks and you all have a blessed day!!!

Hello,
From the symptoms it can be bullous impetigo, bullous staph infection or herpes sores. Herpes also presents with red itchy blisters which scab over.
The only way of ruling it out is by getting yourself tested for herpes. Laboratory tests include: culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA. I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get it ruled out.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Hi,
Also, are there any procedures that I can get to make the old dark spots and the new ones lighter or even disappear?  Maybe use tar and light therapy or something that will work faster than that process like a bleaching cream?  It looks very ugly with these spots on my chest, abdomen, face, and arms!

Thanks,

Thanks a lot for your help!  I will get that done as soon as possible.  I also want to know if you think the medication that my dermatologist is giving me is good for impetigo, it is Levaquin 7.5 mg., mupirocin ointment, chemical cautery, and a depo shot in the butt?  It ahs help before but maybe that's why it's recurring, you think?  The only problem with the chemical cautery is that it turns my skin black, but it seems to make the lesions dry out really fast!  Thanks and have a blessed day!!!

Hello,
If you are having recurrent impetigo, then please get a swab done of the nose and lip. Bacteria can spread from the nose to healthy skin within 7-14 days and impetigo lesions can appear 7-14 days later. Sometimes there is colonization of the perineum, axillae, pharynx, and hands. Recurrent impetigo is also found in immunoglobulin deficiency like Ig M deficiency.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Hi,
I did get tested for Herpes and it was a negative.  After that I had a biopsy done and the results did show bullous impetigo.  What I want to know is why is coming back and on my eyes and hands?  This my second out break of this since 2008 and I have never had it on my eye lid and in my hand and on my finger like it is this time!!!  Is this usual or unusual for bullous impetigo?  Also, are the sore spots in my hair that look like crusty flakes on my scalp sebhorriec dermatitis or psoriasis or maybe it's something else?? Why do you think the impetigo keeps coming back because from the things that I read it's supposed to be curable and once cured you don't have to worry about it coming back to haunt you again, is it??  Any thoughts...

Thanks a lot,
