Boil like lumps on inner thigh

Boil like lumps on inner thigh

I have gotten boil like lumps on my inner thighs for a few years now. I have even had to have one lanced in the ER one time cause it was so big and very painfull to walk. Anyone know what they are caused from and how I can treat them without going to the doctor. It's very imbarrassing..

Hello,
Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus.  Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection. They do not persist for so long like months or years as they spintaneusly rupture. What you seem to be having for such a long time  is sebaceous cysts. Blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles and excessive testosterone production will cause such cysts.

Generally no treatment is required but they become painful then it means they are infected, then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required. Then consultation of a dermatologist is required.

I hope that helps. Take care and regards.
