itself became slightly raised from the rest of my scalp. It also retained colour from hair dye. I had to have it removed because my derm said it was pre-cancerous. Does anyone know what this is called? He said it was some sort of oil gland I believe

It could have been due to congenital alopecia aereta. Alopecia areata is a non-scarring hair loss disease that can occur in any stage of our life and it can occur in some cases as congenital forms also.
