Bowenoid papulosis

Bowenoid papulosis

Hi, good doctors

I'm 40yo male, diagnosed clinically for Bowenoid Papulosis, without biopsy, treated with Laser. I wonder if it will be dangerous for my wife and child. In case we use the same bath and washing machine for clothes in house, is there any risk for them?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards

Hi,

I am glad that you asked a question here and I will try my best to answer it for you.

This condition- bowenoid papulosis is considered a transitional state between warts and bowens disease. It is characterized by the development of papules on the penis with distinctive histopathology.

The means of transfer of the causative Virus is the sexual route. Therefore, protection of partner with a condom and self protection by not touching the lesion again and agian is advised. The disease follows a protracted course in healthy young adults. The children may not be exposed by simple showering and use of washing machines.

I hope this helped. You may find more information at : http://www.emedicine.com/DERM/topic60.htm

Hope this helped. Let me know if you may need any more help/information.
Best regards
