Brain Fog

by trainbuff, May 02, 2007 12:00AM
I  have what is called "brain fog" I have had it off and on for the last 3 years. It comes and goes. Symptoms: Tired, warm feeling on my forehead (but no temperature) spaciness; eyes feel swollen yet they are not. Looking at me you could not tell any visible symptoms. Tests: Salivery: Estradiol slightly elevated due to my being 20# overweight; Testosterone very low. I'm 68 yrs old; I have NOT checked my Thyroid (serum) but a friend of mine at ZRT said I should do a complete thyroid panel checking 2 Total; 2 free, TSH and TPL. He said he has heard of brain fog with thyroid being low. On this same salivery; checked my cortisol and all four samples during the 24 hours were normal. My progesterone was very eleavted '1111' but he said he doubted this was due to high Progesterone but could be thyroid. Both general practioners I have seen  have not a clue what this could be due to. Oh,yes high stress job plus heavy masturbation and pornography habit. Also being a Christian could I be in heavy conflict (emotional)?? I am very depressed that I am living a " double life" and am not able to control this awful addiction. Any help this way would be appreicated. Feel God is trying to get my attention and allowing these symptoms and problems to be in my life...Thanks for your time.

I believe that the help you need is of the spiritual and psychological kind, and I urge you to seek it out as soon as possible.

Good luck.

Hi there! I would go ahead and get your thyroid checked. Have your doctor do a complete physical with bloodwork to put your mind at ease. I too have had brain fog a lot. Sometimes I wonder if it's diet related. I think the things we put in our body affects us more than we realize.
I too am a Christian and I understand and sympathize with what you're going through. You are not alone! There are many out there with the same struggles you have. If you really want to stop this addiction there are many places you can go to for help. Most churches now are very aware of this growing problem and offer counseling. We just had something on our local news the other night where they were talking about this growing addiction (porn), and the guy they interviewed was a Christian and was talking about how this almost destroyed his marriage but with the help from his church and friends and family who supported and prayed with him, he's overcome this addiction and is much happer. You can't do this alone. Find a good, positive support group who can help you through this. You're in my prayers. God bless.

Thanks!! whoever you are. I belong to a Christian support group of men and they are really helping me. Did your brain fog go away or have you still have it? Mine has been off and on for the last 5 years, but I am 68 and still engage in masturbation etc off and on with pornography. It just seems it will never go away. Thanks again.

Additionally, I am getting a complete serum thyroid profile with total T-3 and T-4; free T3 and T4, TSH and TPL.

I also may be borderline diabetic because my hemoglobin 1ac last time(8 months ago was 5.5-borderline). I am a sugar and chocolate lover and will have a complete physical in about 2 months.

So diet and thyroid might be a problem; but I am sure my being a Christian and what I wrestle with could produce this.
