Breastfeeding and cosmetic procedures

Is it safe to have laser treatments (titan, thermage) and chemical peels while breastfeeding? Please advice! I'm 42 years old and my face is looking terrible after pregnancy and although love breasfeeding, I feel I need also a little TLC for myself! Thanks!

Hi,

How are you? Chemical peels are not indicated for breast feeding moms like you. Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. However chemicals are used that may be harmful for your baby. Thermage uses radiofrequency heating which tightens deeper skin tissue, and starts new collagen production.

It is best that you refrain from any aesthetic procedures while breastfeeding. There are many ways that you can pamper yourself without resorting to procedures that may be harmful for your baby. Discuss with your doctor treatment options that is suited for you. Initial consultations usually evaluate you and an individualized treatment plan is made.

Take care and regards.
