by nasras, Jul 29, 2008 10:38AM
My seven week old baby has broken capillaries on his cheeks. It started at week five. I am concerned that it will extend to all of his cheek area. How do we get rid of this? Help

Hi,

Are there other signs or symptoms present such as fever? Petechiae are small red or purplish spots on the skin that don't fade when you press on them. Petechiae are due to broken capillaries in the skin and resolves completely without any treatment. In an unwell baby they be a sign of a serious illness. It would be best to see your baby's pediatrician for further evaluation and to rule out other diseases that could be present. Take care and keep us posted.
