Broken blood vessel on face?

My 9 year old daughter was at a Scout meeting 8 months ago.  A little girl next to her opened up a magic marker, hitting my daughter on her cheek with the cap of the marker.  There is a red mark on her face which has not gone away.  Is it a broken blood vessel?  If so, what can I do to get rid of it or reduce the redness?  It has been 8 months already and it's such a shame to see this red mark right in the middle of her face.  Thank you very much.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Superficial blood vessels on the face are often referred to as "broken," though clear-cut associations with recollected trauma are uncommon.  In any case, there it is.  Lasers are gentle and effective at removing such things, if they bother your daughter.  Ask a dermatologist.

Best.
