to be of even colors and borders. I would assume that it is flat and not painful. This does not sound atypical in presentation to me. However, it is best to have this assessed by a pediatric dermatologist to allay your worries. At this point, I would not be very worried. Moles may present in any areas of the body although they are expected to cluster in sun exposed areas. Take a picture of the mole for baseline reference.
I just joined this forum and saw this post, my daughter also developed a mole on her foot when she was fairly young and I panicked then, too. I took her to a dermatologist, who said it looked ok but photographed it for tracking. Obviously, it will grow, as her foot grew rapidly. I happened to notice it the other day and it looks almost the same as it did many years ago, after the initial growth (she is now 15).
The photograph is a great way to put your mind at ease. This way, you don't ask yourself over and over if that's how it used to look. :-)
Yes, her mole was on the sole of her foot as well.
Although it did grow initially, I noted that it hasn't changed size since that initial growth spurt years ago. It isn't round, either, sort of oval-shaped, and very pale. It also is not raised.
Just wanted to update you all. We have seen a dermatologists and he said that pigmantation in question was a healthy looking mole and that it will still grow as my daughters foot grows. Yes it is not common to get a mole on this part of the foot but it happens. Good news
It's been three years since I posted a comment on this post. Since then my daughter’s mole has almost doubled in size (I was told it will grow as her foot grows). It looks almost the same (even colours, oval shape) apart from growing in length. However it bothers me that is so large. Was wondering is it normal for moles to have a grow spurs, as her foot is growing and growing....Was this the case with your daughter? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
My 4 year old just had a mole removed off the sole of her foot yesterday. It was oval shaped, brown and only grew about 2mm in 2 years as her foot grew. We decided to finally get it off since we were going to the derm every 4-6 months to look at it. We now wait for the biopsy results and pray it wasn't atypical in anyway. How did you ever make out with your daughters mole?
To be honest I am always looking at that mole. Don't like the look of it. As this mole is growing in size (as my little one foot does, I am keeping a close eye on it). This is not a bithmark but a mole that started to appear at age 3. It is oval in shape, even colour but as I say it is getting bigger. Will chek it out soon just in case.
How did you all cope with mole removal. Your little one ok.
Hi! I just 2 days ago discovered a spot on the bottom my 8 year old daughter's 2nd toe. She already had a dr appointment yesterday so I asked about it. I thought at first it was a blood blister even thought it isn't raised any. Her dr thinks that it is a mole but we are soaking her foot to be sure. We go back in couple weeks and our dr said he would line up a surgeon to have it removed. He mentioned more than once that he isn't comfortable with moles on feet. I didn't ask too many questions as my daughter was already scared at the talk of having it removed. Any response on your experience would be helpful. I know every incident can be different. What questions should I be asking?
I've just seen this post. The truth is that docs don' know everything. I get confused with all different info I am getting. My GP says my daughters mole looks ok although it's large and has been growing in lentgh and it seems like it is getting lighter in places. This happened last summer when she went through a growth spur. My dermatologist said to keep an eye on it and that slow changes are usually ok. I am also always looking at my (now 8 year old) mole and it measures around 1cm. Unfortunately the only two options are; close monitoring or removal..Moles do change and grow with kids and are rarely a problem before puberty. However it is sometimes hard to know the best way forward. Please let me know how things are. Keep strong. Our little girls need mums that are strong. x
I had a sudden mole on the sole of my left foot. I prolonged seeing the doc, Finally decided to get it done as it was growing. Last Tuesday, The dermatologist told me to come back in three days and she will have it removed.
It was the most painul thing in the world. Not the actual operation, but the anesthesia injection I got on the sole of my foot. I screamed in agony.
This is the third day and I still can walk on that foot yet.
I was wondering how long till I can actually stand on both feet normaly?
