Bruse and lump under a mole

I rubbed the back of my fore arm last night and felt an irritation the felt like a bruise....Upon looking in mirror, there was one on the back of my arm, which would not have concerned me, except for the fact that it was bruised around a small mole.  The mole was even bruised making it a little darker....
Today it has developed a small lump under the mole.(I'm assuming that could be caused from bumping it or even the fact that I have kept feeling it and pushing on it......I do not remember hitting my arm on anything, but it's possible,  I'm going to give it a few days before making a doctors appointment...but it's just odd that the mole in in the center of the bruise...Do you think this is anything to be concerned about?

I am a 39 year old, white woman, if that would make any difference!

Thanks

Hi,

Where are the lesions located? Since when have you noticed them? Are there any other associated symptoms?

This could be due to some bacterial infection, fungal infection, trauma or injury at the site or some insect bite, etc.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist and to rule out the cause of the skin lesions.

Till then, you should keep the areas clean and not to scratch or pick at the lesions.

This does not look like it could be a melanoma. The typical signs and symptoms of a melanoma are - ' Asymmetrical skin lesion, irregular border of the lesion, multiple colours, moles greater than 5 mm are more likely to be melanomas than smaller moles, change of a mole or lesion may be a hint that the lesion is becoming malignant or elevation.'

You could read more about the condition at the following link -
' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanoma'

Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions and it would be best to consult your doctor for a clinical examination.

Let us know about what your doctor advises and post us if you need any other information.

Regards.
