Bump on shaft

by andy71, Nov 15, 2005 12:00AM
About two months ago, I saw a dermatologist regarding a painless 4-5mm bump on my shaft, which looks a bit like an ant bite.  He looked at it and said it was nothing.  Its sometimes hard to see because its almost the same color as my surrounding skin, but it's definitely a bump... hard like a zit.  Doesn't look like a blister w/ fluid or anything, and it's painless.  Somtimes, there's a very slight itching because the skin around the bump was a bit dry.

After the visit, I forgot all about it until yesterday when I noticed it was still there. (It either went away and came back, or was there all along... like I said, its easier to feel than to see at times).  I can move the bump as I move my skin.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

1)Could it be herpes?  There's no blister, and a scab never formed... any possible transmission would have been 10 yrs ago, and I've never felt anything down there before.

2)Is some type of cancer a possibility?

No, it doesn't sound like herpes or cancer.  It sounds like a cyst in the skin, which is common on the penis, and that stays there, and shouldn't be removed. Since you already saw a doctor who said the same thing, I think you should leave it alone and forget about it.

Best.

Thanks for your comment, doc.  I still just a little worried because although there's really not much to look at, the bump is feeling just a little raw or itchy. Again, no real "redness" or blistering that I can tell. Can I ask how likely it is for someone to be exposed to herpes 10 year prior to the first symptoms?  It probably happens, but is it the norm?

Not likely, but that's not the main point--the point is that what you have doesn't sound like herpes, period.  That's what your doctor said, too.

I scared.. I am a 13 year old girl and I don't masturbate touch myslef or anything at all! I was changing that day and I noticed this sort of red zit on my genital.. so I was freaked out because I was worried it was genital herpes but there was only one. It's exactly like a big pimple, red and hard. I tried squeezing it out but that didn't help then I tried cutting it off and that didn't work either. I tried acne medicine and now, 2 weeks later it is still there. Is it an STD? How could it be an STD? I've never done anything, I haven't even had my period yet so why is this happening? I'm freaked out and I don't want to have a thousand pimples .. down there when I grow up and I'm too freaked out to ask my mom or dad what to do even though they are both doctors
