Bumps on base of penis

by Bflam, Dec 14, 2006 12:00AM
Here is some background info: I am a 26 year old male who has had sex with two women. The first girlfriend was a virgin who had never had sexual contact of any kind with anyone. We were together between the ages of 15-20 years old and never had sexual relations with anyone else. The second girlfriend occured after 4 years of abstinence. She is my current girlfriend, who has never been sexual in any way with anyone other than me. We've been together for 2 years from the age of 24 until the present time. Neither of the girls had ever touched a penis or been sexual before me.

Somewhere along the way, a bump grew on the right side base of my penis. It looks like a cluster of smaller warts and is the same color as my skin. It is about 3-4 millimeters in width and 1-2 millimeters tall. I'm not sure when it developed but it's been there for at least 2 years. My GP said that it is a normal wart and not an STD so I shouldn't worry.

Now, years after that wart developed, smaller bumps have developed in the same area. They are skin colored and about 1 millimeter in width and 1 millimeter tall. They look like the exact bumps that make up the larger "cluster" that has been there for years. They appeared on the left and right base of my penis in the area between the shaft and the scrotum. They have been here for about a month.

My question is, does this sound like HPV? If so, where did I pick it up? The smaller bumps must have layed dormant for at least two years and the larger bump has stayed the same for years. I work in the concert touring business and often shower in communal showers and sometimes share soap. Is it possible to catch the virus that way?

If this is from the first girl, then it layed dormant for 4 or 5 years after we stopped having sex. If it is from the second girl, I would be amazed because she had never done anything sexual involving genitals at all. I am just not a permiscuous person so I never thought I'd have to deal with something like this. I know it's impossible to diagnose something via description, but any help would be great. I'm going to see a doctor asap.

I don't think it's HPV, so you needn't ask yourself all these questions.  Please have a skin doctor or STD specialist look and tell you.  I think these are probably cysts and therefore a normal part of genital anatomy.  Check it out.

Best.
