Bumps on head of penis (PLEASE HELP)

by rugbysu, Mar 16, 2009 09:22PM
A few months back i began noticing that when my penis was erect, it looked like underneath the skin on the head there were lots of tiny little bumps, smaller than a pin head.  They dont appear to be red, nor do they itch or hurt.  I am concerned because they have not gone away or even become less noticeable.  I was tested for all stds and hiv( all came back negative) a month or 2 ago and my most recent partner has also tested negative, including HPV.  Am i over reacting?  Can the glans of a circumsized penis appear like this?  I am 25 years old. And becoming overly paranoid.  Please help

Hello,
Without external examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but the various possibilities for your symptoms are folliculitis(might only be felt as small lumps in the skin commonly with a hair arising from centre) , pearly penile papules(multiple, small (about 1-3mm) papules running around the circumference of the crown of the glans penis) , Fordyce spots (small (1-5mm) bright red or purple papules that can appear on the penis and usually effect younger men), sweat dermatitis or contact dermatitis(appear as red small lumps with itching or burning)  or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms).

I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get yourself evaluated for these possibilities.Till then, you should keep the area clean, wear lose comfortable clothes to avoid sweating, use a powder to keep the area dry and use calamine lotion at the site. Oral antihistamine medications would help if the lesions are itchy.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional doubts.

I think i am just being overly worried and examining too closely.  Lastly, if i really stretch the skin on my glans and look very closely i can see these very tiny bumps, and by tiny i mean like the point of a needle.  They are skin colored and may have always been there but i just haven't noticed them until a few months back.  I just feel like the skin on the head of my penis has changed and is no longer smooth and shiny.  Does this happen over the course of time? Any thoughts?  Am i just looking way too much into this?
