Bumps on scalp

by mmc, Jun 05, 2001 12:00AM
About a month ago I noticed a bump on the base of my head near my ear. The following week I started having back pain (although I do have a 7 month old baby so that could be the cause of that). I then noticed a lump in my neck. I went to the doctor and was told that I had swollen glands due to a minor infection and was put on antibiotics for 10 days. I am now finished with the medication and nothing has changed. I should mention that above the bump on my head I have severe itching located above my ear which doesn't seem to be dandruff. This also occurs above my left ear but not as badly. This has been going on since shortly after the baby was born. I do have a follow up appointment with the doctor. Can you tell me what the problem might be and what the doctor may do at the next visit. Thank you.

I really can't add much from this distance.  Swollen glands don't disappear right away after they're treated--they can remain lumpy for months.  I doubt the itching is relevant.  The doctor my well do nothing but wait and treat the itch if it's bad enough to treat.

Best.
