Bumps on skin

A couple weeks ago I got what looked like a pimple above my upper lip, between my nose and lip. I popped it and then more came around that same place later that night and next day. I noticed they seemed more like watery pus filled bumps not like a pimple. Finally they stopped and I had a scab-like spot there that was almost dime sized. What is it?

It can be infected hair follicles or cold sore. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. Herpes simplex type I blisters or Cold sores are caused by a virus and are extremely contagious. Also, cold sores typically appear outside the mouth – usually, under the nose, around the lips, or under the chin.

Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. Cold sores has to be probed.
